Set up your discount codes
The two Shopify settings a code needs so we can enforce it.
DiscountHero enforces the restrictions you define on your Shopify discount codes. For the protection to work, set your codes up like this.
The two required settings
When creating or editing a discount code in Shopify, make sure it has at least one of these limitations:
- Customer segment: "Customers who haven't purchased" (for new-customer promotions)
- Usage limit: "One use per customer"
Codes without either restriction are open to everyone by definition, so there is nothing for DiscountHero to enforce on them.

Verify it works
After setting up a restricted code, place a test order: enter the code and check out with an existing customer's email. The code should be removed and the case should appear in your Activity Log. Full test flow in the Setup guide.
