Setup guide
Install, add the extension, pick a plan, import your orders.
Set up DiscountHero in a few guided steps. Prerequisite: your store runs on Shopify Plus (see What is DiscountHero (and why it needs Shopify Plus)).
💡 In short: install, add the checkout extension, pick a plan, let the order import run, and verify with a test order. The app is only fully active when all four go-live conditions at the bottom are met.
The onboarding steps

| 1. Language | Your store languages are detected. You can adjust the checkout messages now or later. See Translate the checkout messages. |
| 2. Setup | Add the DiscountHero block to your checkout (instructions below) and switch the app on. |
| 3. Billing | Choose the plan, 14-day free trial included. |
| 4. Order import | Your order history is imported so the duplicate check has data to work with. |
| 5. Pre-analysis | Optional: see how much abuse cost you in the past. See Pre-analysis: what did discount abuse cost you before?. |
| 6. Done | You land on the dashboard. |
Adding the checkout extension
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout and click Customize.
- In the top bar, select the Checkout page.
- In the left sidebar, click Sections > Add app block and select DiscountHero.
- Click Save to publish.
⚠️ Important: the app only works if the extension is added AND the toggle inside the DiscountHero app is set to active.
About the order import
- The import runs in the background. Depending on your order volume it can take up to 48 hours. You can close the page and come back.
- Afterwards, every new order is added automatically in real time. No manual work needed.
- Import new orders on the Import page refreshes the history manually, useful after a migration or if you suspect a gap.
- If your store has not granted the permission to read all orders, Shopify only exposes the last 60 days of orders to the import. Contact us if you need a longer history.
Verify with a test order
- Go to your checkout.
- Enter a discount code that is restricted to new customers only.
- Check out with an email address of an existing customer.
- DiscountHero should detect the duplicate and remove the code. The case appears in your Activity Log.
The app is fully active when all four conditions are met
- Order import completed
- Extension added to the checkout page
- Toggle in the app set to active
- Active subscription
