Let's configure AddressHero the way you need it. The setup has four steps; steps 1 and 2 are the essential ones.
In the app, activate Validate in checkout. The validation rules only take effect while this is enabled.
Choose which rules should block the checkout, for example: missing house number, special characters, packing stations, email typos.
Important: in the Shopify checkout editor, open the AddressHero block and enable its permission checkbox to let the app block the checkout. A missing permission is one of the most common reasons the validation seems inactive.
Shopify Plus merchants: additionally add the AddressHero UI extension to the checkout page to also block redirect-based payment methods. See Blocking invalid checkouts (Plus and non-Plus).

Activate the Post Checkout Validation in the app settings.
In the Shopify checkout editor, add the AddressHero UI extension block to the Thank You page AND the Order Status page, then save and publish the checkout profile. Without this step, customers cannot see or correct flagged addresses.
Useful settings here: time limit to edit the shipping address, only validate unfulfilled orders, hide extension for format errors.
Optional: activate the Self-service to edit shipping address feature and add its extension to both pages too.
Not sure everything is set up correctly? Share store access and support can review your checkout editor setup directly.

Decide whether AddressHero should automatically correct detected address errors. The post-checkout validation must be active for this. See Automatic correction.
