How AddressHero works
Two stages: format checks in checkout, correction after.
AddressHero is a Shopify app that validates and corrects shipping addresses, automatically, at checkout and after the purchase. It catches errors before they cause failed deliveries, returns, and unnecessary logistics costs. Over 3,800 merchant brands use AddressHero to keep their logistics clean and their customers happy.
The two stages

1. In-checkout validation (format checks)
While the customer fills in their shipping address, AddressHero checks the format in real time: missing house numbers, invalid characters, packing stations without a client ID, email typos, and more. If an error is detected, the customer sees a clear message and corrects it before completing the purchase. In-checkout, AddressHero checks the format only; whether the address really exists is checked in stage 2.
2. Post-checkout validation and correction
Right after the order is placed, AddressHero validates the full address server-side against official address databases, typically within 1 to 2 minutes. Then:
- Clear errors (typos in street or city, wrong postal code) can be corrected automatically.
- Unclear cases are flagged, and the customer is prompted on the Thank You and Order Status page to review and correct their address.
- Optionally, orders with unresolved errors can be tagged, put on hold, or trigger a customer email.
Because stage 2 runs server-side on every incoming order, it also covers orders paid via express wallets (Apple Pay, PayPal Express and similar) that skip the regular checkout form.
