A rename rule replaces the label of a payment method in your checkout with wording your customers actually understand, for example turning a technical gateway name into "Kauf auf Rechnung".
Step by step
- Create a new rule and choose Rename payment methods.
- Give the rule a label.
- Select the countries in which the rule should apply.
- Select the payment methods to rename.
- Enter the new label, for one or several methods at once. Choose wording every customer understands.
- Publish, or save as draft.
What cannot be renamed
- Payment methods displayed with a logo (Klarna, PayPal): Shopify does not allow renaming these. The logo IS the label.
- Provider texts: the descriptive notices some providers show under their method (for example "Note: you will be charged...") are set by the provider and Shopify and cannot be modified by PaymentHero or any other app.
- Whether a method can be customized can also depend on HOW it is integrated in your Shopify payment settings (wallet vs. direct integration).
