Addresses are checked against official reference data: Deutsche Post AddressFactory for Germany, Google Maps Address Validation worldwide, USPS and Canada Post standards for the USA and Canada, plus our own address database. Details in What we validate against.
The in-checkout format checks (house number present, special characters, packing stations) work independently of the country. The database validation post-checkout requires coverage, so addresses from uncovered countries are not verified against reference data.
If you restrict validation to specific countries in the AddressHero settings, orders from other countries are skipped entirely. If you ship internationally, we recommend leaving that restriction empty. See ZIP, city and country mismatches.
